Dido and Aeneas: Recomposed

UnstuckOpera is delighted to present a re-composition of Henry Purcell’s classic opera Dido and Aeneas.

In this promenade-style production (the first opera ever staged at The Basement Theatre) the audience is guided through the entire building. As Dido falls for Aeneas and perverse witches wreak havoc, we agonise over desire versus duty and ask; is love really a choice?

Never been to the opera? This is the perfect playful introduction. At just fifty minutes long and sung entirely in English Dido and Aeneas: recomposed is opera at its most unstuck; big wigs but not big egos, big emotions but not big budgets, big fun but not big prices.

Performed at Basement Theatre, Auckland from the 17th to the 21st of May, and BATS Theatre, Wellington, 20 March - 13 April.
