Eddie Izzard

Eddie Izzard is about to take on the universe again with his new world comedy tour ‘Wunderbar’.

Five years after his last comedy tour Force Majeure made comedy history having played 45 countries including all 50 US States and in four languages, making it the most extensive comedy show ever, Eddie is back to his roots with an all-new rather personal show which expands on his own very unique, totally surreal view of life, love, history and his ‘theory of the universe’.

Pango

Atamira Dance Company presents "Pango"

Dance, light and live music come together to create an extraordinary, raw, human performance. Six male dancers ignite the stage, bringing movement, energy and life to explore Te Kore – the state of unlimited potential for being.

The fascinating blend of live electric guitar by former Straitjacket FitsFront-Man Shayne Carter and traditional Māori instruments by master player James Webster, creates a dramatic mix of soundscapes and movement. Reverberations of ancient karakia and takutaku chant, evoke the presence of atua Māori.

This highly acclaimed, multi-sensory performance, by visionary choreographer Moss Patterson, enthralled audiences when it premiered in China and Taiwan and promises to do the same for audiences across Aotearoa.

Take up this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the collaborative creativity of some of New Zealand’s most innovative and passionate dance and music artists.

The Guerrilla Collection

Taking place in the largest Pacific city in the world, The Guerrilla Collection explores the future of Auckland city through a uniquely Pacific lens.  A 3-day festival of 30-minute movement pieces, The Guerrilla Collection unites Pacific artists from across multiple disciplines to create fresh, engaging and excellent Pacific art in collaboration with Black Grace dance artists.

Including works from artists such as playwright Victor Rodger, theatre-maker Anapela Polataivao and poet Courtney Sina-Meredith, movement forms the backbone of the festival, with each piece exploring a particular area of our society and what this might look like in 30 years.  Unlike anything else, The Guerrilla Collection provides unparalleled levels of access with the festival being free for all.

What will Auckland look like in 30 years? What will it sound like, what will it feel like, what will it taste and smell like?

ONE: The Earth Rises

Award-winning choreographer Moss Patterson (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Atamira, Black Grace, Footnote, Touch Compass Dance Company) wrangles the talent of over fifty of New Zealand’s top performers to create ONE: The Earth Rises, a compelling narrative told through rhythms of traditional kapa haka, Polynesian dance and the Chinese martial arts practice of tai chi.

A sacred taonga is unearthed within a Chinese market in the Manukau area. The Manaia, instilled with magical powers, goes on a journey of discovery across time zones and landscapes, tracing the incredible history of the Manukau region. Featuring performers from Patterson's newly formed company TOHU Dance Theatre with the Auckland Chinese Philharmonic Choir, UNITEC Performing Arts School, James Cook High School and Te Kura o Nga Tapuwae, ONE: The Earth Rises narrates a whakapapa of the Manukau region with untold stories inspired by local Maori traditions and the development of Chinese market gardens in the area.

Patterson has fused traditional and contemporary dance forms with striking live visual projections from sand artist Marcus Winter (The Sand Man) and electronic choral soundscapes from Paddy Free (Pitch Black) to bring intensity and beauty to this diverse new dance experience.

ONE: The Earth Rises is a production of the Vodafone Events Centre and TOHU Dance Theatre. It is supported through the Auckland Diversity Project Fund of Creative New Zealand and Foundation North
