INSIDE LADY T’S - AUCKLAND’S HOTTEST NEW DRAG CLUB FOR ONE MONTH ONLY
Silo Theatre closes out 2025 with the glitter-soaked world premiere of D.R.A.G. (Dressed Resembling a God).
From 13 November – 6 December, Q Theatre Loft transforms into Lady T’s, the fiercest drag club this side of Karangahape Road. D.R.A.G. is a fabulous, funny and filthy love letter to queer nightlife and the artists who keep it alive - equal parts party, politics and performance.
Three drag artists fight to save their beloved club while everything around them is crumbling. Secrets, diva antics, and drag hierarchy bubble beneath the sequins and sparkle as they prepare their most important show of the year.
Longtime Silo collaborator Daniel Williams (Mother Play, Camping, Hudson & Halls Live!), better known onstage as Lady Trenyce, makes his theatre directing debut. Drawing on years of lived experience in the Aotearoa drag scene, Williams brings audiences backstage to the heart of queer performance.
“Drag is often seen as something to sit and sip cocktails to at a nightclub while queens belt Mariah,” says Williams. “This will be as fun as one of those nights out, but with a deeper cut. We ask who are the artists beneath the wigs and makeup? What’s threatening them? What do they care about? How has the commercialisation of a culture born in underground, queer spaces, changed the art form?”
At the centre are three of New Zealand’s fiercest performers: Adena Delights (Dragon’s Diva Den), the formidable mother of the house; Hugo Grrrl (House of Drag), the overachieving drag king; and Slay West (The Tīwhas), the proudly political queen of the TikTok generation.
Daniel’s vision will be brought to life by theatre designers Micheal McCabe (The Blind Date Project, UPU, Work Do) and Sean Lynch (Mother Play). Also a design lecturer at AUT, Micheal’s Master's thesis explored the architecture of queer nightclubs in Tāmaki Makaurau. Award-winning sound and lighting designer Sean Lynch is the mastermind behind some of Silo’s most beloved productions, including blockbusters Camping and Hudson & Halls Live!. With these two at the helm, theatre audiences are in for an immersive visual feast.
In true Christmas-show style, a different special guest performer takes the stage each night – including Anita Wigl’it, Brady Peeti, Buckwheat, Chris Parker, Freya Silas Finch, Janaye Henry, Medulla Oblongata, Nī Dekkers-Reihana, Tom Sainsbury, and more to be announced - ensuring no two nights at Lady T’s are ever the same. Expect sickening displays of talent, a bit of chaos, and 10s across the board.
This Christmas belongs to Lady T’s.
