FAM FOOD. ART. MARKET TURNS UP THE VOLUME FOR RECORD STORE DAY ON K’ ROAD

FAM Food. Art. Market is back, settling into a new mid-month slot from April. Each month, Karangahape Road comes alive with local makers, street food, vintage finds and creative energy, bringing people together and keeping the precinct buzzing.

On Saturday 18 April, FAM returns across Beresford Square, Pitt Street Corner, St Kevins Arcade and along K’ Road, inviting people to wander, discover and spend time on one of Auckland’s most creative streets.

Falling on Record Store Day, this month’s programme leans all the way in. Music will run across multiple stages throughout the precinct, with Scarlett at Beresford Square, Bobby Stingray at Pitt Street Corner, Logg Cabin (Fat Freddy's Drop) at St Kevins Arcade and Marjorie Sinclair at Sinda Vintage, each soundtracking the day.

Pitt Street Corner will be activated by Crushes, bringing a curated selection of vintage pieces and hard-to-find finds.

Flying Out hosts a full day of live music and DJs, featuring Princess Chelsea, Sunreturn, Fables, VIDA and Amamelia, with Flying Nun also activating on the street.

Coco’s Cantina returns with Coco’s Market from 11am to 3pm, bringing DJs, thrifting and a lively social atmosphere, with Caroline Casta on the decks.

FAM is about bringing people into K’ Road and creating a space to connect. It’s a mix of food, art and community coming together in a really natural way,” says France Hémonfrom the Karangahape Road Business Association.

Beresford Square remains the heart of the market, filled with handmade goods, art and homeware from local makers, while Pitt Street Corner transforms into a vintage focused treasure zone of op shops, secondhand gems and throwback finds.

The SMALL RAVE Kids Corner returns with a Record Store Day Vinyl Run, where families can collect a Vinyl Passport, visit DJ and record store locations across the street, and return completed cards for a party pack prize.

FAM also marks the final day for a number of exhibitions across the precinct, alongside ongoing shows throughout K’ Road. Closing exhibitions include Desert Island by Anto Yeldezian at Coastal Signs, Day to day by Kate Small and Shenanigans by Stanley Dickson at Anna Miles Gallery, and Caterpillar Soup by Zac Langdon-Pole alongside Holding Reflection by Martino Gamper at Lett Thomas.

FAM is also teaming up with Bike Auckland for a tote bag giveaway across the day so do not miss the chance to grab one.

Saturday 18 April, 10am to 2pm. Free entry.
