EXTENDED SEASON ANNOUNCED FOR SILO THEATRE’S ACCLAIMED PLAYFIGHT

Silo Theatre announces an extended season of Playfight by Julia Grogan, with four new performances added from 31 May due to strong audience demand and sell-out performances at Silo Hall.

Since opening, Playfight has received strong responses and critical acclaim for its emotional honesty and social urgency.

Silo Theatre Artistic Director Sophie Henderson says the response to the work has been both moving and affirming.

It opens up conversations we need to be having, especially with young people, and it does it with so much heart."

Written by British playwright Julia Grogan and directed by Brita McVeigh Playfight follows fifteen-year-old friends Keira, Zainab, and Lucy as they navigate sex, shame, and friendship. What begins as childish games beneath their tree slowly collides with teen realities – first sexual experiences, leaked videos, shifting loyalties, and the pressures young women face in a world that often leaves them to figure things out alone.

The Aotearoa production features Ana Chaya Scotney (Ngāi Tūhoe), Mirabai Pease, and Liv Parker.

Playfight was originally presented by Grace Dickson Productions and Theatre Uncut at Roundabout as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2024, before touring to Bristol Old Vic, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, and Soho Theatre in 2025.
